Volleyball Recap: Foresthill Comes Up Short

Foresthill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the Encina Bulldogs, falling 3-0. If the Wildfires were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-4, 25-11, 25-9.

Youssef Slekh had an outrageously good game for Encina as he had 12 digs and seven aces. Those seven aces gave Slekh a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Yoel Calleja, who had 19 assists and three digs.

Foresthill's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Encina, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

Looking ahead, Foresthill will challenge Sacramento Waldorf at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Encina, they will head out on the road to take on John Adams Academy Rsvl/Lin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. John Adams Academy Rsvl/Lin is on a three-game streak of home wins, Encina a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
