Basketball Game Preview: Custer Wildcats vs. Douglas Patriots

The Custer Wildcats will head out to take on the Douglas Patriots at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Custer's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.

Custer is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Dakota's top teams: Rapid City Christian, who was ranked second at the time (Custer was ranked 13th). Custer fell to Rapid City Christian 69-65. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Douglas won against Lead-Deadwood on Tuesday with 66 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Douglas walked away with a 66-59 victory over Lead-Deadwood. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Douglas' win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-7. As for Custer, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.

Custer beat Douglas 66-55 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Custer since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
