Basketball Game Preview: Fort Jennings Musketeers vs. Ayersville Pilots

The Fort Jennings Musketeers will take on the Ayersville Pilots at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Jennings is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Fort Jennings came up short against Allen East on Saturday, falling 71-48. While losing is never fun, the Musketeers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 483rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 98th).

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 21-21 at halftime, Ayersville was not quite Hicksville's equal in the second half on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 44-43 to the Aces. The Pilots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fort Jennings will need focus on slowing down Kendra Waldron, one of several Ayersville players who made an impact when they last played. She went 7 for 14 on her way to 17 points in addition to seven assists and four steals. Waldron has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Knueven, who posted 12 points and seven boards.

Fort Jennings' loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Ayersville, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Fort Jennings might still be hurting after the 55-29 loss they got from Ayersville when the teams last played back in January of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Fort Jennings was down 37-17.
