Soccer Game Preview: Oakridge vs. Montague

The Oakridge Eagles will challenge the Montague Wildcats at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Oakridge's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Oakridge lost 6-1 to North Muskegon on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Oakridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while North Muskegon are ranked 113th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Montague). Their defense stepped up to hand Muskegon a 12-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for Montague, who have now won seven matches by five goals or more so far this season.

The win was the third in a row for Montague, bringing their record up to 7-5. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those three contests. As for Oakridge, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
