Baseball Recap: Slocomb Gets the Win

Slocomb took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Dothan, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Slocomb Red Tops' pitcher stepped up to hand the Dothan Wolves a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. This was payback for the Red Tops, who suffered an 11-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Not much got past Wyatt Reeder, who gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Dothan off the board. The dominant performance gave Reeder a new career-high in strikeouts.

Slocomb now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Dothan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Slocomb will welcome Andalusia at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Andalusia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Dothan, they will square off against Headland at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Headland will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Dothan surely won't give up without a fight.
