Baseball Recap: Union Pines Comes Up Short

Union Pines was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Scotland Fighting Scots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Fighting Scots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-7 last Tuesday.

Brodie Lyczkowski made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Union Pines' loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Scotland, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Looking ahead, Union Pines will head out to challenge Richmond at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Richmond's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Union Pines' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Scotland, they will be playing at home against Triton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Scotland's pitchers better be ready for this one: Triton has averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
