            Baseball Recap: DeMatha Stags vs. Paul VI Panthers        
        
		
        
        
            DeMatha has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.48  runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit  on Tuesday. They took  an  11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Paul VI Panthers. Surprisingly, this marked the sixth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

 Wes Hall was a  force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he  struck out nine batters over  5.2 innings while giving up just one earned  (and four unearned) runs off   six  hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts any time he's  pitched this season.
 At the plate,  Brooks Franklin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-4 with one  home run and three  RBI. That  home run marked the first that  he  launched this season. Another player making a difference was  Johnathan Coombs, who  went 2-for-4 with one  home run.
DeMatha has  been struggling recently as they've  lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-7 record  this season. As for Paul VI, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record  this season.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. DeMatha will welcome Mount St. Joseph  at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. As for Paul VI, they will host Bishop Ireton  at 5:30  p.m.  on Thursday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.73  runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
