Central extended their postseason success on Friday against Cambridge. They blew past the Bears, posting a 64-29 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by 23 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Jonaz Walton, who rushed for 180 yards and three scores while picking up 10.6 yards per carry, and also picked up 101 receiving yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in September of 2024. Jacez Walton was another major influence, as he rushed for 73 yards and ran in a TD.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 330 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards in eight consecutive games.
Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Alanson Handz Simmons and Tyson Rochester.
Cambridge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Marsden, who picked up 70 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Langford, who threw for 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Central's victory bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Cambridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
Looking ahead, Central will challenge Benedictine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Cadets have now posted at least 31 points in their last five matchups. Cambridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
