Baseball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Calhoun Academy

It's playoff time, and Calhoun Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They skirted past the Kemper Academy Rams 6-4. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Carsen Stegall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Caiden Farmer was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Levi Walls, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Calhoun Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kemper Academy only posted a batting average of .115.

Calhoun Academy pushed their record up to 19-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Kemper Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Calhoun Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against Kemper Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
