Baseball Recap: Schurr Comes Up Short

Schurr was the 2-1 winner over Nogales when they last played one another on Thursday, but their luck changed this time around. The Spartans fell just short of the Nobles by a score of 6-5 on Friday.

Joshua Talavera made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Joseph Tapia was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Schurr has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Nogales, their win bumped their record up to 8-13.

Coming up, Schurr will square off against Bell Gardens at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nogales, they will challenge Azusa at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
