Baseball Recap: Central Has No Trouble Against Fivay

It's playoff time, and Central had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Fivay Falcons 20-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Bears' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jacob Lugo was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 10-12 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Jayden Warren was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Central is undefeated when Warren posts three or more hits, but 10-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jordan Lendo, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Central now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Fivay, they are on a 39-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-22.

Coming up, Central will square off against Weeki Wachee at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Fivay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
