Basketball Recap: Apex Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Ethan Balos and Connor Mcfadden

Apex was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 62-52 to the Green Hope Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 405th, while the Falcons are ranked 202nd).

Apex's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Connor McFadden, who posted 13 points, and Ethan Balos, who put up 11 points. The dominant performance gave McFadden a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Sandeep Cheekati, who scored six points.

Leading Green Hope to victory were Korrell Griffin and Mason Dean. Griffin dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds, while Dean went 8-for-11 en route to 20 points. Thanks to that strong game, Dean now owns an excellent 46% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Colberg, who earned two points along with six assists, five boards, and four steals.

Apex's defeat dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Green Hope, their record is now 10-13.

Apex wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 71-49 loss against Holly Springs on the 14th. As for Green Hope, they have also already played their next contest, a 57-42 win against Cary on the 14th.
