Whittier and El Rancho are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2021, but not for long. The Cardinals will host the Dons at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Whittier: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while El Rancho has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

Whittier is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 4th on Wednesday. They lost 3-0 to California.

While Whittier was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into California's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-15, 25-18.

Meanwhile, El Rancho made easy work of Santa Fe on Wednesday and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Dons in their matchups with the Chiefs: they've now won three in a row.

Whittier's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for El Rancho, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3-2.

Whittier couldn't quite get it done against El Rancho in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
