Basketball Recap: Holdenville Takes a Loss

Holdenville suffered their biggest defeat since February 9, 2024 on Friday. They lost 60-39 to the McLoud Redskins. The Wolverines were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Redskins earlier this season, when they won 66-62.

Despite the loss, Holdenville still got an impressive performance from Mike Piza, who went 5 for 11 en route to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Randall, who posted six points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Holdenville was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McLoud only posted seven assists.

It was another big night for Bryce Cowns, who went 11 of 20 on his way to 27 points and six rebounds for McLoud. Cowns' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Mason Craven was another key player, putting up 14 points.

With the loss, Holdenville broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-4. As for McLoud, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Holdenville has already played their next matchup, a 48-43 victory against Okemah on the 25th. As for McLoud, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-46 win against Chandler on the 25th.
