In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Gilbert, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Aaliyah Williams was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Modesto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Merced hit Gregori with a four-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Jaguars lost 12-3 to the Bears. The Jaguars have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
NeVaeh Scheper made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI.
Gregori's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Modesto, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-17.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Modesto hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Gregori struggles in that department as they've averaged .417. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
