Recap: Crespi Celts vs. Chaminade Eagles
The Crespi Celts had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Chaminade by a score of 80-72 on Wednesday. The win was just what Crespi needed coming off of a 84-57 defeat in their prior contest.
Crespi found their leader in underclassman Joe Sterling, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds. Sterling hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton White, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
When it comes to explaining why Chaminade lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bryce Goldman. Despite the final result, he shot 6-for-12 from long range and dropped a double-double on 35 points and 11 rebounds. Goldman is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Jonas Thurman was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds.
Crespi's win bumped their record up to 19-5. As for Chaminade, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crespi will take on Loyola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Loyola will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Crespi is ranked 25th). As for Chaminade, they will be playing at home against Notre Dame (SO) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Notre Dame (SO) will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
