Softball Game Preview: Millbrook Wildcats vs. Wake Prep Academy Guardians

The Millbrook Wildcats will take on the Wake Prep Academy Guardians at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Millbrook is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Millbrook got the win against South Garner by a conclusive 12-2.

Emerson Myers spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Millbrook let Nicole Drew and Kayleigh Prather run wild. Drew scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-4, while Prather scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs Prather has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Giovanna Hunter, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Millbrook always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Garner only posted an OBP of .259.

Meanwhile, Wake Prep Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Wakefield, falling 11-3.

Hailey Jones was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

The victory got Millbrook back to even at 2-2. As for Wake Prep Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Millbrook suffered a grim 22-12 defeat to Wake Prep Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Millbrook avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
