Recap: Astronaut War Eagles vs. Merritt Island Mustangs
The Astronaut War Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 11th straight loss. They were dealt a 67-31 defeat at the hands of Merritt Island. Astronaut has struggled against Merritt Island recently, as their game on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Merritt Island got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaliah Jones out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ada Daniels, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Astronaut's loss was their ninth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-15. As for Merritt Island, their victory bumped their record up to 2-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Astronaut and Space Coast will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Merritt Island, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sebastian River at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
