Basketball Recap: Oxford Beats Udall for Their Second Straight Win

If Udall wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Oxford, they should've done a better job of containing Zane Whitson. The Oxford Wildcats took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 79-42 victory over the Udall Eagles thanks in part to Whitson, who almost dropped a double-double with 25 points and nine assists. Those 25 points gave him a new career-high.

Kellen Green was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game.

Udall lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jordan Hornecker, who posted 19 points in addition to five assists and four steals. That was a full 45.2% of Udall's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Logan Mason, who put up eight points and eight boards.

The win made it two in a row for Oxford and bumps their season record up to 13-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 3-15 Udall and 5-10 Sedan. As for Udall, their loss was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-15.

Looking ahead, Oxford will host West Elk at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Elk is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season. As for Udall, they will venture away from home to face off against Sedan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Udall is facing Sedan at the right time seeing as Sedan is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
