Basketball Recap: Wood Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Wood waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They ended the year with a bang, routing the Cordova Lancers 57-35. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while the Lancers are ranked 1063rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wood pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.1 points per game. As for Cordova, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Wood and Bear Creek will round out the year against one another at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cordova, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on West Park at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
