It was a good run, but Carey unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They took a blow against the Butte County Pirates, falling 68-40. The match marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Carey's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Olsen, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Preston Wood, who earned nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Carey smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Carey suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 9-2. As for Butte County, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Carey didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-55 defeat against Dietrich on the 7th. As for Butte County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-50 loss against West Jefferson on the 8th.
