Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Fossil Ridge's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Fossil Ridge's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Rock Canyon Jaguars. Considering the SaberCats have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Brek Benedict looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Fossil Ridge got a massive performance out of Brady Bradford, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave Bradford a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Griffin, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Fossil Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .609. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .370 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Fossil Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Rock Canyon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Looking ahead, Fossil Ridge will welcome Roosevelt at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rock Canyon, they are taking a road trip to take on Castle View at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
