Football Recap: Purvis Tornadoes vs. Lumberton Panthers
Purvis had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 27-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lumberton Panthers on Friday. The Tornadoes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Purvis lost, don't look at Moses Cummings. Despite the final result, he rushed for 265 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Cummings' longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.
Purvis will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on Pass Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Purvis is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season. As for Lumberton, they will venture away from home to take on North Forrest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
