Flag Football Recap: Regina Dominican Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After soaring to 60 points the game before, Regina Dominican was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They were dealt a 40-6 loss at the hands of the St. Edward Green Wave. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois flag football rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Green Wave are ranked 33rd).

Despite the loss, Regina Dominican still got an impressive performance from Cara Sullivan, who picked up 90 receiving yards and one touchdown.

St. Edward's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sarah Gurley, who threw for 165 yards and three TDs while completing 77.8% of her passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Gurley is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as she's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Layne Dawson was another key player, picking up 69 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Regina Dominican's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for St. Edward, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Regina Dominican will take on Amundsen at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for St. Edward, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 32-20 victory against St. Charles East on the 4th.
