The Boyertown Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Downingtown West Whippets at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Boyertown will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Boyertown is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Quakertown on Wednesday as Boyertown made off with a 17-2 victory. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by ten runs or more this season.
Kyra Neiswender was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Lindsay Mathias was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Mathias is crushing it when it comes to home runs: she's launched at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Rielynn Carey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
Boyertown lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Downingtown West made easy work of Henderson on Wednesday and carried off a 16-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Whippets.
Downingtown West got a massive performance out of Karly Swanson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ryleah Avery, who scored four runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-1.
Boyertown pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Downingtown West, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Boyertown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .505. However, it's not like Downingtown West struggles in that department as they've averaged .433. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Boyertown suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Downingtown West in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. Can Boyertown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
