Softball Recap: Norwell Turns Things Around After Road Loss

Norwell's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to DeKalb on Wednesday. The Knights came out on top against the Huntington North Vikings by a score of 12-9. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 4-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kara Brown made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had over her last six contests. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reese Frauhiger, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Mia Kurtz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Norwell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Norwell's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Huntington North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Norwell will head out to challenge Bluffton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Huntington North, they will challenge Fort Wayne Snider at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
