Volleyball Recap: Spring Valley Takes a Loss

Spring Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Lugoff-Elgin Demons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Spring Valley was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-12, 25-11.

Loss or not, Spring Valley got some senior leadership from Malaya Dewey and Kennedy Newton. Dewey had 24 digs and one assist, while Newton had 12 assists and 11 digs.

Spring Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 10-16-1. As for Lugoff-Elgin, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Spring Valley has already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against West Florence on the 23rd. As for Lugoff-Elgin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Greenwood on the 20th.
