Softball Preview: Ethel Tigers vs. Stringer Red Devils
The Ethel Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Stringer Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ethel is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup last Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 12-3 margin over Enterprise. The victory was familiar territory for Ethel who now have four in a row.
Meanwhile, Stringer entered their tilt with Sacred Heart with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Everything went their way against the Crusaders on Saturday as they made off with a 15-1 win.
Madilyn Graham was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Graham has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 21 consecutive pitching appearances. Graham was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles.
In other batting news, Presley Arender was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with a home run, three runs, and four RBI. Rylei Pickerell was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Ethel has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-13 record this season. As for Stringer, their victory bumped their record up to 23-6-1.
