Basketball Recap: Devin Castillo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pearsall over Crystal City

Pearsall was the 71-66 winner over Crystal City when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mavericks fell 67-57 to the Javelinas on Monday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (56), the Mavericks still had to take the loss.

Pearsall's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devin Castillo, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards. Castillo is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aiden Saldivar, who posted 14 points and six rebounds.

Pearsall's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Crystal City, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Pearsall wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 79-20 win against Poteet on the 25th. As for Crystal City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-58 victory against Carrizo Springs on the 25th.
