Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Monache's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Monache had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They skirted past the Garces Memorial Rams 4-3. This was payback for the Marauders, who suffered a 7-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Monache got a great performance from Sophia Martinez as she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. That's the most strikeouts Martinez has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Monache saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shy-Lee Teran, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Monache is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Garces Memorial, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-9.

As of now, neither Monache nor the Rams have any future games scheduled.
