Football Recap: Culver City Skates Past Compton Early College with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Culver City). They breezed past the Compton Early College Rising Phoenix to the tune of 46-0 on Wednesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Centaurs with their most commanding win of the season.

Culver City found their leader in freshman Hailey Gonzalez, who threw for 205 yards and five TDs while completing 78.9% of her passes, and also punched in one rushing score. London Cunningham made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Culver City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cassidy Hoffman and Cunningham. Cunningham got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The victory made it two in a row for Culver City and bumps their season record up to 5-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.5 points over those games. As for Compton Early College, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Culver City will face off against Lawndale at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals' defense has only allowed 9.8 points per game this season, so the Centaurs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Compton Early College, they will welcome Whitney at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
