Basketball Game Preview: Aliquippa Quips vs. Shady Side Academy Bulldogs

The Aliquippa Quips will face off against the Shady Side Academy Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Aliquippa knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Shady Side Academy likes a good challenge.

Aliquippa is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They breezed past New Brighton to the tune of 83-29. The Quips have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Shady Side Academy waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Highlanders as they made off with a 51-31 victory.

Shady Side Academy's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points over those games. As for Aliquippa, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Aliquippa came up short against Shady Side Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, falling 56-51. Can Aliquippa avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
