Softball Recap: CORE Butte Victorious

CORE Butte took a 14-run loss the last time they faced off against Redding Christian, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lynx came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lions on Wednesday, sneaking past 14-12. The Lynx's offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

The team relied heavily on Mara Gonzalez, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Jody Beckley, who went 3-for-6 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

CORE Butte kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

CORE Butte's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-18. As for Redding Christian, their defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

CORE Butte does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Redding Christian, they will be playing at home against Chester at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Volcanoes have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season.
