The Church Point Bears are taking a road trip to take on the Pine Prairie Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Church Point is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Lake Charles College Prep a 19-0 shutout on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Bears sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Ryleigh Hooks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Church Point got a massive performance out of Kylee Fruge, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Fruge a new career-high in RBI (three). Halle Miller also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Church Point always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .821. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Pine Prairie got the win against Crowley on Tuesday by a conclusive 6-0. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.
Like Church Point, Pine Prairie also got a great game from a two-way player: Kynnedi Ware. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. Ware was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josie Vidrine, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Sydney Fontenot, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Pine Prairie is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Church Point, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-11-1.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Church Point hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Pine Prairie struggles in that department as they've averaged .364. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Church Point might still be hurting after the 16-1 loss they got from Pine Prairie in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
