N.C. linebacker, the No. 4 prospect in the country, picks Clemson over Florida, Virginia Tech and North Carolina.

Anson (Wadesboro, N.C.) outside linebacker Stephone Anthony, listed as the fourth-best recruit in the MaxPreps Top 100, announced Wednesday afternoon that he will be playing for Clemson.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound senior had also visited Florida, Virginia Tech and North Carolina. His cousin, Barquell River, plays linebacker at Virginia Tech.

Anthony recorded 123 tackles (16 for loss), four sacks and two interceptions and also played offense and special teams. At running back he rushed for 302 yards and seven touchdowns on 50 carries, and he returned 14 kickoffs for 498 yards.

Anthony decision follows the commitment of middle linebacker Tony Steward of Menendez (St. Augustine, Fla.), Maxpreps' No. 6 overall prospect, who also picked Clemson today.
