Baseball Game Preview: Grundy County Yellowjackets vs. Cascade Champions

Grundy County is 1-7 against Cascade since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Yellowjackets will face off against the Champions at 6:00 p.m. Grundy County has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Grundy County lost 13-3 to Community on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Cascade had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Tigers.

The team relied heavily on Wickey Parker, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Milliken, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Cascade's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Grundy County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.

Grundy County couldn't quite get it done against Cascade in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
