Softball Recap: Riverton Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Riverton dropped their record down to 20-3 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Herriman Mustangs by a score of 6-5. The Silverwolves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 12-1.

Maggie Hamblin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylee Martinez, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

As for Herriman, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games.

On Herriman's side, Ashlyn Beratto spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits.

At the plate, McKenzie Quintero was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sofia Lancaster, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Riverton is set to take on their familiar foe Copper Hills at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Herriman will challenge rival Bingham at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
