Basketball Recap: Lumberton Piles Up the Points Against Purnell Swett

Lumberton won the last time they faced Purnell Swett and things went their way on Friday too. The Lumberton Pirates took their matchup with ease, bagging an 80-48 win over the Purnell Swett Rams. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 22 points or more this season.

Jaiden Shephard continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-4 from long range and dropping a double-double with 41 points and 25 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 47 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Amare Jones, who posted eight points in addition to ten assists and seven rebounds.

Lumberton was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Purnell Swett only racked up two assists.

Purnell Swett's loss came despite strong showings from Jeremiah Barnes and Collin Sampson. Barnes went 6-for-12 to rack up 18 points, while Sampson put up 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Wilkes, who had five points.

Lumberton's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points over those games. As for Purnell Swett, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 17 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season.
