The Western Boone Stars will venture away from home to square off against the Lebanon Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Boone is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
While Western Boone's victory against Fountain Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Stars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Mustangs on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Stars as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Beau Sawyer made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Western Boone is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-4 otherwise. Sawyer was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Sawyer wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Easton Nance, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Nance has snagged this season. Luke Shirley was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
Lebanon not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 9, 2024 (when they won 11-1). They blew past Ben Davis 14-4. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like Western Boone, Lebanon also got a great game from a two-way player: Owen Taylor. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Taylor was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Brooks Johnson and Bryce Nelson did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Nelson went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave Nelson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chase Rubi, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Lebanon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Western Boone's record now sits at 4-5. As for Lebanon, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
Everything went Western Boone's way against Lebanon when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Western Boone made off with a 15-5 victory. Do the Stars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
