Recap: Shore Regional Blue Devils vs. Marlboro Mustangs
Even though the Shore Regional Blue Devils have not done well against the Marlboro Mustangs recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Shore Regional came out on top against Marlboro by a score of 50-40. The score was all tied up 20-20 at the break, but Shore Regional was the better team in the second half.
Shore Regional's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Conley Smolokoff, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Fiore, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Shore Regional pushed their record up to 9-6 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Marlboro, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shore Regional will take on Donovan Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Marlboro, they will head out on the road to take on Freehold Township at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
