Baseball Game Preview: Grace Prep Lions vs. Shelton Chargers

The Grace Prep Lions will take on the Shelton Chargers in a tournament on Saturday. Neither Grace Prep nor Shelton posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Friday just wasn't the day for Grace Prep's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oklahoma City Broncos HomeSchool on Friday.

Colt Howard was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

Meanwhile, Shelton also failed to score in their most recent game. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 2-0 to Pantego Christian, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Shelton now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Grace Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Grace Prep couldn't quite finish off Shelton when the teams last played back in April of 2022 and fell 7-5. Can Grace Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
