Basketball Game Preview: Calvary Baptist Eagles vs. Allen Academy Rams

The Calvary Baptist Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Allen Academy Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Calvary Baptist has five straight wins, Allen Academy has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Calvary Baptist didn't have too much breathing room in their game against St. Joseph Catholic, but they still walked away with a 57-53 victory.

Tyler Wilson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 10 of 21 en route to 28 points and six steals. That's the most steals he has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Guisler, who posted 14 points in addition to five steals and three blocks.

Meanwhile, Allen Academy had to suffer through a 52-11 loss at the hands of Faith West Academy. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1592nd, while the Eagles are ranked 707th).

Calvary Baptist pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Allen Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.

Calvary Baptist lost to Allen Academy on the road by a decisive 66-50 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Calvary Baptist avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
