Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Micah Newman and Louis Gaddy Jr Lead Madison County to Victory

Madison County waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Branford Buccaneers 71-48. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 530th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Madison County to victory were Louis Gaddy Jr and Micah Newman. Gaddy Jr dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards, while Newman made all 6 shots he took from beyond the arc to post 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Gaddy Jr is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jhy Smith, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.

Madison County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
