Volleyball Recap: Independence Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Independence had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Panther Creek on Friday. The Knights blew past the Panthers 3-0. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Independence never let Panther Creek on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-14, 25-19.

Lyla Fisher paced Independence's offense, picking up 12 kills. Fisher got some help from Ruby Sanford and her 20 assists. Fisher was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Independence's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3. As for Panther Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.
