Basketball Recap: Shaker Heights Takes a Loss

Shaker Heights was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Euclid Panthers, falling 81-56. The Red Raiders were probably out for revenge after losing 64-58 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Shaker Heights still got an impressive performance from Mek Black, who posted 14 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Chistorpher Cunningham, who had 12 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Shaker Heights smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Shaker Heights' loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Euclid, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-6.

Shaker Heights and Maple Heights will face off at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Shaker Heights is facing Maple Heights at the right time seeing as Maple Heights is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Euclid, they will host Medina at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Euclid has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
