Basketball Game Preview: Cabrini Monarchs vs. Detroit Leadership Academy

The Cabrini Monarchs will square off against Detroit Leadership Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Cabrini's favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home while Detroit Leadership Academy has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.

Cabrini proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 33) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Airport 69-67.

Meanwhile, Detroit Leadership Academy took a blow against Westfield Prep on February 4th, falling 72-17. While losing is never fun, Detroit Leadership Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 680th, while Westfield Prep is ranked 265th).

Cabrini is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points over those games. Detroit Leadership Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Cabrini came up short against Detroit Leadership Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 48-44. Can Cabrini avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
