Softball Game Preview: Franklin-Simpson Wildcats vs. Barren County Trojans

Franklin-Simpson hasn't had much luck against Barren County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Franklin-Simpson will face off against Barren County at 6:00 p.m. Franklin-Simpson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Franklin-Simpson is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They lost 10-4 to Warren East.

Franklin-Simpson saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Ferguson, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Barren County came up short against Assumption on Friday and fell 11-6. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Norah Shirley was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Gracie Myatt also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Even though they lost, Barren County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post two or more strikeouts.

Franklin-Simpson's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5-1. As for Barren County, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Franklin-Simpson suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Barren County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Franklin-Simpson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
