Basketball Recap: Makelle Weber Key Part of a Team Effort in Phoenix Win

While Farmington didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took down the West Field Longhorns 58-40 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Phoenix.

Farmington's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makelle Weber, who posted nine points in addition to six assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Emilie Figlioli, who put up 13 points.

Weber wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Farmington was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Field only posted seven assists.

West Field's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Canyon Britt, who had 12 points. Britt has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ella Doxey, who posted nine points and five boards.

Farmington's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for West Field, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Farmington and Pleasant Grove will compete for holiday cheer at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. West Field will take on Draper APA in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Draper APA is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season.
