Softball Recap: Ouachita Parish Finds Home Field Redemption Against Ruston

There's no place like home for Ouachita Parish, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past the Ruston Bearcats 16-1 on Thursday. Considering the Lions have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Alayjha Matthews made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Matthews was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ouachita Parish got a massive performance out of Rheagan Montgomery, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI Montgomery has posted over her last 14 games. Aja Williams was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Ouachita Parish always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ruston only posted an OBP of .250.

Ouachita Parish has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. Ruston has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ouachita Parish will venture away from home to take on D'Arbonne Woods at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ruston, they are taking a road trip to challenge Evangel Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
