Softball Game Preview: Colonie Central Wolfpack vs. Bethlehem Central Eagles

The Colonie Central Wolfpack are taking a road trip to challenge the Bethlehem Central Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Colonie Central's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Bethlehem Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Colonie Central is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Ursuline just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Koalas.

Sydney Cataldo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, Cassie Currao made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Bethlehem Central entered their tilt with Albany on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Falcons a 7-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Molly Campbell was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Franchini, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Bethlehem Central's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Colonie Central, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 8-4.

Colonie Central couldn't quite finish off Bethlehem Central in their previous matchup back in April and fell 2-0. Can the Wolfpack avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
